| Rod Casteel grew up on a small Northern Missouri farm. After graduation from high school, he joined the Navy where he spent the next 20 years on the east coast with service in Iceland and Sicily and the Mediterranian. After he retired from the Navy he spent a year in working in Kuwait where he met his present wife, Viorica, a Romanian nurse. Rod started writing in Dec 2000. His first published book, The Crimson Rose, is especially close to him as he was stationed aboard the USS Saipan, LHA-2 during the terrorist attack on the marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, October 23, 1983. It is this tragic event in our nations history that sets the backdrop for this heart warming and emotional novel. R Casteel has since completed several novels, short stories and poems.
